Remove the Part You cannot Repurpose
Underwear is made up of several elements other than fabric. In our case, the waistband we use is not biodegradable; we’re working on fixing this aspect, but till then, detach the waistband when taking the underwear to compost.
Cut into Small Pieces:
Cut your biodegradable underwear into small pieces before adding them to the compost pile to speed up the decomposition process. This will help them break down faster and ensure they're evenly distributed throughout the pile.
Add to Compost Pile:
Add the cut-up underwear to your compost pile or bin and other compostable materials like food scraps and yard waste. Make sure to mix everything well to promote even decomposition.
Monitor the Compost:
Composting can take a few weeks to several months, depending on the temperature and moisture levels. Monitor your compost pile regularly and keep it moist by watering it when necessary. Turning the pile occasionally can also help speed up the decomposition process.
