About the collaboration:
In a world where gender equality and inclusivity are at the crossroads of human evolution, two path breaking companies, Generation MIXX and Tailor & Circus, joined forces to embark on a singular collaboration. Both brands share a common vision of challenging societal norms, promoting progressive dialogue, and embracing intersectional diversity.
The result of this partnership is nothing short of groundbreaking: India's first gender-agnostic underwear. We’re here to take you on a journey through our remarkable collaboration, highlighting the dedication, creativity, and determination that went into creating this exceptional piece of clothing.
Generation MIXX: Facilitating Conversations and Embracing Diversity:
Generation MIXX is a platform that aims to foster dialogue about gender equality, encourage self-reflection, challenge prejudices, and raise children to be critical thinkers. Rooted in urban culture and art, the brand creates avenues for interaction and conversation through various mediums such as art, design, film, fashion, and literature. Their Zine, featuring a diverse range of collaborators, catalyses sharing new ideas and thoughts with people from all walks of life.
Tailor & Circus: Inclusive, Body Positive, Sustainable Underwear
& Circus is an underwear brand committed to inclusivity, body positivity, and sustainability. Our mission is to create underwear that celebrates and caters to all body types, challenging conventional beauty standards. However, we were always cognizant of a glaring absence - proper gender neutral underwear that could accommodate everyone, regardless of their anatomical differences.
The Birth of a Collaboration:
While we've always strived to be free from Gender-Bias, true neutral underwear that could cater to everyone regardless of what was in their pants always seemed just out of our reach.
But when there were increasing calls from our community to practise what we preach and deliver on the real deal, we decided that we had to solve this before we did anything else.
Generation Mixx was an organisation we had admired for many years, and it was immediately clear that this was a project that would require their endorsement and expertise.
What started as an exploratory phone call turned into a full-fledged exercise in building India's first gender-agnostic underwear, with a theme that was just as urgent and just as ambitious.
We spent over 2 years just designing, re-designing and discarding patterns and styles. Some were promising, and others had marked flaws that just couldn't fit the directive of an anatomically universal undie.
Simultaneously, MIXX continued to put together the creative aspects and build out one of the most comprehensive campaigns in the country on a conversation that could not be more pressing.
Eventually, just as we got close to our dream underwear, the Consent Undie took its fully realised shape as the story came together under the able vision of Rhea Gupte.
This is special, special, special. A landmark for our industry, but even more than that, a project painstakingly achieved with radical honesty, true grit and spectacular creativity.
In the past few days, we have covered some dimensions of what has been an outstandingly fulfilling journey and what we hope will be a tremendous new piece of clothing to have in your collection. Stay tuned to learn more.
Underwear, for us, has always been serious business. And yet this endeavour is somehow so much more.
The collaboration between Generation MIXX and the Circus represents a significant milestone in pursuing gender equality and true inclusivity. It showcases the power of art, fashion and culture to redefine societal norms. The journey to create India's first gender-agnostic underwear showed us that when passionate creatives come together, they can push boundaries, challenge conventions, and bring about positive change. The Consent Undie is not just a piece of clothing; it symbolises the triumph of a collective mission to create a more inclusive world. This collaboration sets a precedent for future endeavours and inspires others to embrace diversity, question norms, and pave the way for a more equitable future.
